About NutrifEYE

Prevent Blindness Iowa, in partnership with Hy-Vee stores, is coordinating the NutrifEYE program during the month of April 2010. The purpose of the program is to educate the public on the important connection between preventing vision loss and nutrition, provide information on what foods and nutritional supplements may help protect against vision loss as well as to provide tools for people to determine whether they are at risk for vision loss.

Prevent Blindness Iowa is working with Hy-Vee dietitians and pharmacists during the month of April. The store dietitians will offer vision healthy store tours, diet consultations, recipe demonstration as well as printed materials to distribute to the customers. Prevent Blindness Iowa is offering a FREE vision risk assessment form to all store customers. This simple one page form evaluates the risk of an eye problem based on factors such as age, race, health history and date of last eye exam. The forms are available from your Hy-Vee dietitian or you can print a copy here and bring to your Hy-Vee store or mail to Prevent Blindness Iowa, 1111 Ninth Street, Suite 250, Des Moines, IA 50314.
